Time to ‘rest from conflict’ – hospital lawyer

THERE’S no need to present video footage showing the taped baby’s mother signing the agreement with the Cebu Puericulture Center and Maternity House Inc. (CPCMHI), lawyer Cornelio Mercado said yesterday.

Jasmine Badocdoc, the baby’s mother, earlier asked the hospital to show proof that it was she who signed the agreement with the hospital’s board of trustees, such as closed-circuit television camera footage, photos or other forms of documentation. The hospital had only shown copies of the agreement, the check issued and the voucher.

All lies

“No need to dignify. It’s all lies. There is no need to entertain or disprove that,” Mercado told Cebu Daily News yesterday.

Badocdoc had denied in a press conference that it was her signature that was on the document. She even showed specimen signatures. She also denied receiving money from the hospital.

Last Wednesday, Mercado released photo copies of a check for P15,423.70 which was allegedly issued to her as well as a voucher, dated June 27,2014.

Aside from Badocdoc’s signature, other signatures appearing on the check are those of Florencia Streegan as the CPCMHI president and Dr. Iris Jakosalem as vice president of the hospital.

The voucher stated it was a ‘request for financial assistance’. Badocdoc’s signature was seen at the bottom of the voucher which was signed and approved by Dr. Raida Varona, the medical director.

Mercado also answered the couple’s statement that they will pursue a legal action. “Let them do what they want to do,” Mercado told CDN.

When asked if they would take legal action against Badocdoc who denied the settlement, he said, “No filing. It’s time to rest from the issue and conflicts.”

CDN sought Badocdoc’s comment through text messaging yesterday but there was no reply. She and her partner Ryan Noval were advised by lawyer Haide Orbiso not to say anything more about the issue.

CDN also checked the couple’s Facebook account and found that it had been changed to private, which was done after copies of check and voucher were released.
