Japanese artist creates map of Cebu City in metal

CEBU CITY, Philippines– Seeing maps around Cebu is nothing new.

But seeing a metal representation of the city’s map sure is something we don’t see all the time.

This is what Japanese artist Wataru Sakuma and his team made and is now on display in one of the biggest commercial buildings here.

Sakuma, who has been an artist for more than 20 years, said that the piece is actually not done yet.

“This is still a work in progress. Because the final piece has a different look,” said the 41-year-old artist.

The metal map of Cebu City is fabricated with black iron and was done in Tagaytay up north.
