BAGUIO CITY – The temperature in this summer capital plunged further to 10°C on Sunday morning, according to the synoptic station of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) here.

Pagasa said the chill was recorded at 5 a.m. and was the coldest so far this “amihan” season.

On Jan. 10, the coldest morning was recorded at 6: 30 a.m. with 10.4 °C.

The cold weather is caused by “amihan,” or cool northeast monsoon season that prevails between October and early March, Pagasa said.

Last year, the coldest temperature recorded was 9.4°C degrees, the lowest so far in the last three years.

The coldest temperature ever registered here was at 6. 3 °C on Jan. 18, 1961.
