CEBU CITY, Philippines — A week after the implementation of a stricter “stay-home Sunday,” police in barangay Guadalupe here noticed a more compliant public.

According to Police Major Janelito Marquez, the chief of the Guadalupe police, only seven individuals were apprehended for violating health protocols in the village on Saturday, January 30, 2021. This is a huge improvement from the 47 nabbed on Friday, January 29.

Police in the area are implementing stricter health protocols in an effort to contain and prevent the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the village.

Based on a post from the Guadalupe Emergency Rescue Team (ERT), the Cebu City Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Data Center reports that Barangay Guadalupe currently has 99 active COVID-19 cases.

Despite this decrease in number of violators, PMAJ Marquez, together with village officials, continue to urge the public to observe  proper quarantine protocols until the COVID situation in the area improves.
