LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines- The Lapu-Lapu City Government will hold a simulation of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) vaccination next week.

Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson of the Department of Health (DOH)-7 said that the simulation will help the city to become efficient in its vaccination efforts, especially in knowing the length of time it will take for a person to get vaccinated.

“We will have to conduct simulation because we want to make sure nga katong atong gipanghan-ay nga mga processes and protocols, mao na gyud to siya,” Loreche said.

Loreche is a member of the city’s COVID-19 Vaccination Advisory Council and a consultant of the city.

She said that each individual will have to undergo the pre-registration, registration, the actual vaccination, and the actual time for observation of any adverse effect in the vaccination procedure.

“We will do time-stamping, meaning to say we want to know nga pila ka minutes ang usa ka individual, from the time of pre-registration, to registration, to screening, to the actual vaccination, and to the actual time nga maghulat siya to be observed for any adverse effect,” she added.

Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard “Ahong” Chan, however, clarified that as of the moment, the city has not decided yet on what brand of the COVID-19 vaccine they will purchase.

Earlier, the mayor revealed that the city will allocate P100 million for the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccines.

Chan said that he will wait for the recommendation from the DOH before they will decide on this. /rcg
