Cebu City, Philippines–Some people hate being single, especially when Valentine’s Day approaches.

But not James Keven Gallardo, a 21-year-old cosplayer who’s been single for almost three years now.

Gallardo made waves in social media when he dressed himself up as a “runaway bride” while riding his RUSI RFI175cc scooter along the vicinity of the Red Cliff along the TransCentral Highway (TCH) in Balamban town, Cebu last Sunday, February 14, 2021.

He used a blood-soaked wedding gown and a white veil from one of his cosplay costumes.

When asked why he chose a horror theme for his Valentine’s Day ride, Gallardo said he did this because he is fond of horror stuff and also to remember how he once left a relationship like a runaway bride.

“While we were together, in the 8 months that we were a couple, I felt that there was something wrong. It felt cold like it was getting boring.  I found out that she was still interested in her ex boyfriend as I was so blind in the remaining 10 months,” he wrote.

“Leaving her is outrageous, but cheating or being used as a cover is ridiculous.”

Like the concept of a runaway bride, Gallardo said that one can tell if it’s right to leave a relationship. According to him, it’s better to leave when both or one of you no longer want to meet halfway.

“Well, if it hurts and you can’t avoid being mad with the things she does, you should step backwards to avoid worst fights and simply accept the fact that you were just a past-time,” he said.

“It’s just like the RUNAWAY BRIDE who runs away when finding out that the soon-to-be-partner is into something malicious. Mas maayo mudagan sa kasakit, kaysa sa LAMI nga puro ATIK, “ he added.

But Gallardo is not losing hope and in fact has an advice for single people like him—not to lose hope in finding their one true love.

Gallardo believes that one can still find and express their love even on the other days of the year. He added that Valentine’s Day is for everyone, taken or single.

“Bahala’g wa ko’y uyab, as long as nalipay ko sa outcome. Wala ra gyud nay problema,” he wrote to CDN Digital.

(I don’t care if I don’t have a girlfriend as long as I am happy with the outcome. There’s really no problem.)

As of this writing, his “Runaway Bride” photos uploaded on CDN Digital’s Facebook page has drawn 1.2k reactions and been shared 171 times.
