DepEd-7 continues to prepare for face-to-face classes
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Department of Education in Central Visayas (DepEd-7) has continued to prepare for the possible implementation of the limited face-to-face classes, especially now that vaccines for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) are already available in the country.
Dr. Salustiano Jimenez, regional director of DepEd-7, said that they were preparing more than 90 schools in the region for the pilot run of the limited face-to-face classes.
“We continue with our preparations. If the President will allow for the limited face-to-face, then ready na pod ta sa katong pilot schools nato nga gi-ready na nato nga if ever mo-allow ang Presidente,” Jimenez said.

Jimenez, however, said that there were requirements that schools should meet before they might be allowed to implement a face-to-face class.

These include a Parents Teachers Association (PTA) resolution which will allow it, a resolution from the local government unit (LGU) where the school is located, while the agency will make sure that the health and safety protocols are properly observed.
“Hinoon, it is not compulsory. Bisag naay resolution from the PTA, by the time nga ma-implement na ang limited face-to-face ug naay pipila ka mga ginikanan nga di mosugot nga paadtuon ang mga bata, then dili sab nato pugson,” he added.
(However, it is not compulsory. Even if there is a resolution from the PTA by the time that the limited face-to-face will be implemented and there are parents, who will not allow their children to attend the class, then we will not force them.)
Students, whose parents do not agree with the limited face-to-face class, should continue their studies using the modality that they adopted.
Jimenez also clarified that they would prioritize the implementation of the limited face-to-face class in areas with zero cases of the virus.
He said that Central Visayas has more than 3,000 public elementary and high schools.
