Four fires hit Metro Cebu

A fire this afternoon in Palma street in an urban barangay in San Roque, Cebu City is the fourth fire reported since 10 p.m. in Cebu.
Firemen are dousing flames that affected at least 28 wooden shanties and concrete houses in sitio Palma behind Cebu Technological University.
Affected houses include illegal settlers along the banks of an estero or waterway near Mc Arthur bridge. Cebu City Fire Department received the alarm at 4:05 p.m.
Earlier in the day, a warehouse, manufacturing company and some residences went up in barangay Looc, Mandaue City.
At 12:05 noon, the fire struck BG Dionisio Marketin, Kishi Plastic and Precision manufacturing company. One apartment was totally burned, another was partially burned.
At least 20 firetrucks from Consolacion town and Lapu-Lapu City together with some fire brigades responded to the alarm. Authorities are trying to confirm that one allegedly died in the fire.
Canisters of spray paint blew up and rained on residents and bystanders. Black smoke billow high in the sky.
FO3 Edgar Vergara of the Mandaue City’s Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the narrow road prevented them from putting out the fire quickly. A child was injured in the fire.
The firefighters declared the fire under control at 1:05 p.m.

In barangay Tisa, Cebu City, the warehouse of People’s Education Supply along Pacaña street incurred slight damage worth P10,000 past 1 p.m. today.
Last night, a man was burned to death after a fire hit their house in barangay Candaguit, Sibonga town, southeast of Cebu.
The victim was identified as Willington Lopez. He was sleeping alone when the fire hit his home.
A lighted candle may have fallen down and caused the fire according to FO1 Rowel Tumongha, chief investigator of the Sibonga BFP. He said there was no electricity in the house.
Lopez’s 28-year-old son Ramonsito was not at home when the fire broke out. The fire was put out at 10:30 p.m. last night.
