DTCC bets start strong in Dancesport sa Sugbu
Members of the host Dancesport Team Cebu (DTCC) wasted no time in showing their rivals that they are still the team to beat in the 7th Dancesport sa Sugbu and Cebu Open Dancesport Championships 2014.
The Cebuanos captured six titles in the initial nine events in the morning competitions yesterday at the Grand Pacific Ballroom of the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino in Lahug.
Leading the initial onslaught of DTCC is the young tandem of Hezekiah Sobrevega of Basak Elementary School and Mambaling Elementary School’s Rydel Rowella Pat, who accounted for two championship titles in DTCC’s explosive start.
Davin Unabia and Kinue Sakurai also glittered for DTCC as the pair also snared two championship titles in their own dance category.
Sobrevega and Pat drew first blood as they topped the Juvenile 3 Standard event. Sobrevega and Pat’s next accolade came in the Juvenile 5 Standard event after they bested their Manila counterparts in taking home the crown.
Unabia and Sakurai also wowed the adjudicators most in the Teacher-Student 2 (Standard 2) and Teacher-Student 3 (Standard 3) categories to bring home the bacon.
Also giving Cebu City the early titles are Andrew Ysla and Noelyn Mie Pedrano, who won the tiara in the Junior 3 (Standard 3) division and the pair of Mark Rhony Flores and Hidemi Inanaga, who triumphed in the Teacher-Student 1-3 (Standard 3) category.
Manila bets won the three other crowns in the morning events.
Dean delos Reyes and Kio Mae Marvida reigned supreme in the Youth 3 (Standard 3) division while Danilo Gagani, Jr. and Marina Rosales lorded over the Adult 2A (Standard 2) category. The tandem of Albin Rodriguez and Elche Isidro won the title in the Adult 2B (Standard 2) category for the third crown of Manila.
Thirty-six events were still ongoing as of press time.
