The new commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Central Command assumed his post last Friday in a simple turnover ceremony.
Major General Nicanor Vivar replaced Lt. General John Bonafos who is transferred to the higher headquarters as Vice Chief of Staff.
Vivar, a 1982 PMA graduate, was the former commander of the Philippine Air Force (PAF) 3rd Division based in Edwin Andrews Air Base in Zamboanga City.
He is a native of Hagonoy, Bulacan and second member of PMA Sandigan Class to hold one of the top positions in the AFP.
