A 17-YEAR-OLD has accused her father of raping her several times in their house in Mactan island, Cebu. The girl said the alleged abuse started in June.
The father was arrested at home the day after the girl sought help from the police.
The girl found the courage to reveal her ordeal in a school activity where the students were asked to share whatever personal problems they have.
The girl said her parents separated several years ago.
PO2 Maria Eluna Cimafranca of the Women and Children’s Concerns Desk of the Cordova Municipal Police Office said the girl was accompanied by a classmate when she went to the police to file a complaint.
The girl could not recall how many times she had been raped, police said. The father will be charged with violation of the Republic Act 7610 or the Anti-Child Abuse Law.
The girl is now in the custody of social workers.
