Monitoring of Buscaino gunman whereabouts continues
CEBU CITY, Philippines — Monitoring of the whereabouts of the gunman behind the killing of Richard Buscaino continues even as police here admit they received information that the perpetrator is no longer in the city.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said this even if the signing of sworn statements from the witnesses are still pending.

On Monday, October 18, Parilla said that these two witnesses were scheduled to file their respective sworn statements, which are necessary for the filing of the murder complaint against the identified gunman and his unnamed accomplice.
However, these were postponed first as they still need to subject these affidavits and the pieces of evidence they recovered for a review while also waiting for the family of Buscaino to come back from Manila.
“Subject for review ang tanang affidavits and evidence both documents and witnesses para ma completo ug masiguro og insakto ug tukma gyud atoang i file nga kaso. After this, we will also have our second meeting this coming Friday [October 22] para maconsolidate na tanan and then that would be ready also inig abot o sa kung kanus a mu balik ang pamilya ni Buscaino [who are in Manila] ,” Parilla said.

Parilla further explained that the creation of the Special Investigation Task Group for Buscaino was made possible since the incident has become a national concern.
Last October 10, 2021, Philippine National Police chief Police General Guillermo Eleazar ordered a probe on the killing of Buscaino.
Over this, Parilla said that they have no target date for the filing of the murder complaint against these suspects.
“Considering nga regular filing ni siya, wala natay time element sa pag file. Unlike sa arrested nga duna siyay reglementary [period],” he said.

Regardless, Parilla said that they will make sure that the gunman and his accomplice will be arrested soon.
