Oponganons given 254 slots in Tesda scholarship program
LAPU-LAPU CITY, Philippines — The Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) has granted slots for 254 Oponganons for their scholarship program.
TESDA-7 Assistant Regional Director Floro Ringca said that these Oponganons would be enrolled under the Special Training for Employment Program (STEP) of the agency.
Ringca said that these scholars would be enrolled in the tile setting training.
They will be trained within 18 days at the training center of the Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP).
“So ang siyudad sa Lapu-Lapu ni-avail ani, pinaagi sa atong opisina. So duna ta’y ihatag nga 254 slots sa tile setting sa siyudad sa Lapu-Lapu. So kani, STEP ni, libre ang training, libre ang assessment,” Ringca said.
(So the Lapu-Lapu City government availed of this through our office. So we have given the Lapu-Lapu City government 254 slots in tile setting. So this is STEP, the training is free and the assessment is free.)
Aside from this, Ringca said that each scholar will also receive a P160 allowance per day, P500 internet allowance, and P500 personal protective equipment (PPE) allowance.
“Unya duna pa gyud ni GSIS insurance nga one year ang iyang coverage,” Ringca added.
(And there is also the GSIS insurance with a one year coverage.)
Ringca said that these scholars would also undergo entrepreneurship training after they would graduate from the program.
“Nganong dunay entrepreneurship training, tungod kay sanglit ang STEP para mani self-employment. Mao na nga tudloan sila unsaon pagpadagan ang ilang kaugalingon nga negosyo, mao nang tagaan sila ug starter tool kits,” he said.
(Why is there an entrepreneurship training, this is because STEP is only occassionally offered because this only for self-employment. That is why they are taught how to run their own business, that is why they are given starter took kits.)
