Afternoon classes were called off in both high school and elementary levels in Cebu City after the Mactan office of the state weather bureau Pagasa warned of heavy rainfall this afternoon.

Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama made the announcement shortly after noon time at Cebu City Hall. All barangays were warned to monitor danger zones for possible flooding and landslide.

At least 7 landslides were reported in Cebu City since Thursday. The most recent incident was in Lapinaw, Sapangdaku. Clearing operations are ongoing after a landslide hit one of the sitios in barangay Busay. The Cebu City government deployed 10 Khaosiung buses to ferry stranded passengers in the city./ Reporter Doris Bongcac
