Rama names new dep’t heads
CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Cebu City Government has a new set of department heads.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama on Monday, December 6, 2021, revealed the complete list of new officials he has appointed for selected positions in the executive department.
Rama, in a speech after his ceremonial induction at Plaza Sugbo, called the newly appointed officials as part of his ‘Mayor’s Management Core Group’.
“There are perhaps not new personalities but still, once upon a time, (they) have been with the city government (and now they) will be helping the Mayor’s Office and I call them the Cebu City Mayor’s Management Core Group,” explained Rama.
They are lawyers Dominic Diño (Secretary to the Mayor); Mat Medalle (Chief of Staff); Engr. Ma. Suzanne Ardosa (City Administrator); lawyer Mary Rose Lubino (Assistant City Administrator); lawyer Eugene Orbita (City Legal Officer); Remie Vestil Mondigo (Human Resource Development Officer); lawyer Homer Cabaral (Resident Ombudsman); Engr. Dante Arcilla (Division for Welfare of the Urban Poor chief); Sonia Empinado (Assistant Head for Administration of the Cebu City Medical Center); Engr. Rolando Ardosa (Department of General Services); Regina Mercedes Lingaolingao (City Hospitalization Assistance and Medicines Program chief); Ian Hassamal (Barangay Affairs Officer), Neil Odchigue (Protocol Officer) and Cerwin Eviota (Public Information Officer).
Rama last November ordered a one-month evaluation of all city hall employees and officials, particularly department heads previously appointed by the late Mayor Edgardo Labella.
The mayor on December 6 reassured workers of city hall that he won’t be doing a ’sweeping removal of employees’.
“But (only a) evaluation of employees so that by January, we should the right person on the right position. And we should not focus so much on politics,” he added.
Rama took his oath as the new local chief executive of the city last November 20, together with then Councilor Dondon Hontiveros, who is now the city’s new vice mayor.
Monday’s oath taking was a ‘ceremonial’ one.
