Truck-less firemen

Firemen from the Naga City Fire Station yesterday went to work without their fire trucks.

Two trucks were still under repair, but this did not stop them from responding to an alarm at 11:32 a.m, said Senior Insp. Virgilio Gelig, city fire marshal. Two houses were gutted in the blaze which was put out after two hours.

Naga firemen brought along water hoses and joined colleagues from Minglanilla and San Fernando towns. A fire truck from the Korean Electric Power Corp. (Kepco) also arrived to reinforce the Bureau of Fire Protection.

Gelig said the fire started in the house and eatery of Roseie Cabag. A neighbor reported that Cabag stepped out of the house and left her stove unattended. Cabag denied the allegation.

The fire damaged Cabag’s house and that of Julieta Lumayno. An Internet shop of couple Marilou and Renante Saya-ang and a store owned by Simeon Saya-ang were also damaged.
