CEBU CITY, Philippines — Cebu City police have identified another suspect, who robbed a taxi driver on January 28, 2022, following the rescue of the minor, who also admitted his involvement in the crime in Barangay Lorega, Cebu City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay, information officer of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that they continued to investigate if the suspects were members of a notorious group engaged in this kind of illegal activity.

Macatangay said that city police would continue their follow-up operations to locate the adult suspect.

“We are still investigating if duha ra ba ni sila or tulo or napay laing mga tawo nga involved ani in the planning. It is still being investigated right now… I cannot tell if it’s a notorious group, probably one of those moments nga agi og gara-gara ba,” Macatangay said.

However, Macatangay refused to disclose information about the suspect as they continued their follow-up operation.

She said that they might have already filed the formal complaint either today, January 31, or tomorrow, February 1.

Macatangay said that they would also be coordinating with the barangay officials or the SK or Sangguniang Kabataan officials in all areas here to come up with preventive measures so that this crime might not happen again.

On Saturday early morning, a 14-year-old boy was rescued by the Parian police after he was identified to be one of two individuals who allegedly robbed a taxi driver in barangay Lorega in Cebu City.

Earlier, police said that the minor and his accomplice, an adult companion, were identified through a security camera. These two were caught on the camera as they allegedly robbed the taxi driver. Police added village watchers or barangay tanods positively identified the suspects found in the footage of the security camera.

Aside from that, the victim also provided his dash camera or dashcam to the police and positively identified the minor, which led to the rescue.
