Four men including three brothers were arrested after they allegedly mauled a man whom they accused of stealing a fighting cock in barangay Poblacion, Cordova town in Mactan Island, Cebu.
Arrested were Jestoni Ulgasan Baguio and Biongcog brothers Andrew, 31; Dave, 29; and Jude, 27.
Police said the victim, Jonathan Dejello, was eating in his aunt’s house past 1 p.m. Monday when Dave arrived and grabbed him by the neck.
Police said Dave dragged Dejello to his house in sitio Agad-Agad where he was confronted about a missing gamefowl.
The Biongcogs and Baguio are caretakers of a gamefowl farm in the barangay.
When Dejello denied stealing the fighting cock, the suspects took turns beating the man.Baguio was also accused of pointing a .22 revolver at Dejello.
The beating stopped when a team of police led by PO1 Liezyl Escabas arrived and arrested the suspects.
PO3 Erwin Gedorio said it was the victim’s aunt who called the police when her nephew was forcibly brought to the house of the Biongcogs.
Police said no gun was recovered from the suspects.
The victim, who sustained body bruises, was taken to a hospital in Cebu City.
