A SECURITY guard fatally shot a fellow guard whom he suspected of having an affair with his common-law wife in barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City.
Charlito Llanto Jr., 30, fled after shooting Roel Gigante, 27, in the chest. Gigante was declared dead at the Cebu City Medical Center.
Gigante of Mishem Security Agency was detailed at CountryHome on R. Duterte Street where Llanto’s live-in partner Eunila Romero, 27, is also assigned as a security guard.
The suspect, Llanto of the Arco Security Agency, was detailed to secure a pawnshop near the CountryHome.
The crime happened at the guard house of CountryHome. Jealousy was the motive of the killing, said SPO2 Ruth Violango said.
Police said Romero had just arrived at the guardhouse to relieve Gigante past 7 a.m. yesterday. Gigante was about to leave when Llanto arrived.
Police said Llanto was heard telling Gigante “sakpan ta mo ha (I caught the two of you)” before shooting the victim.
Violango said Romero was willing to testify against her partner. “She will testify because she herself is scared of the suspect for being overly jealous,” Violango said in Cebuano.
Police said Llanto had been suspecting that Romero and Gigante had an affair. Romero denied having a relationship with the victim.
