40 LGUs accept request for NSO certificates
Around 40 local government units (LGUs) in Cebu have adopted the Batch Request Entry System (BREQS) of the National Statistics Office (NSO) to receive requests for birth, death and marriage certificates and certificates of no marriage (Cenomar).
The BREQS is a scheme where NSO authorizes a partner to receive requests for copies and certifications of civil registry documents from clients.
NSO 7 regional director Ariel Florendo said in a press conference last Friday that partner LGUs can accept requests and submit these to NSO for processing.
The requesting party can claim the documents from the BREQS in their respective LGU after three to five days.
An additional fee of P50 to P300 will be charged to the requesters for the delivery depending on the distance of their municipality.
Hera Juarez, civil registry service outlet supervisor of NSO 7, said that BREQS started last 2004 with only three out of the 53 municipalities in Cebu adopting the scheme.
But because of their constant encouragement, 37 more LGUs adopted the BREQS, Juarez said.
“Naay uban nga mga municipalities nga dili mo-adopt sa BREQS kay naa may silingan nilang lungsod nga available ni siya (Some municipalities won’t adopt the BREQS because this is already available in their neighboring municipality,” Juarez said.
