CEBU CITY, Philippines- The deadline for the submission of the Statement of Contribution and Expenditures (SOCEs) is already set on Wednesday, June 8.

Records from the Commission on Elections in Cebu province (Comelec-Cebu) showed that as of June 6, at least eight candidates have so far filed their SOCEs.

Reelected Vice Governor Hilario Davide III was the first to submit his SOCE before Comelec-Cebu’s office last May 23.

Davide will be serving his second term as vice governor starting this June 30.

Other candidates who filed their SOCEs last May, or weeks after the actual elections took place, include outgoing 2nd District Provincial Board Member Jose Mari “Tata” Salvador and reelected 1st District Provincial Board Member Raul Bacaltos.

Salvador ran for a seat in Congress representing Cebu’s 2nd district but he lost to Edsel Galeos, also an outgoing Provincial Board member.

Several candidates from Cebu’s 4th district have also submitted their SOCEs.

These included the incumbent president of the Association of Barangay Captain in Cebu province (ABC-Cebu) and ex-officio board member Celestino “Tining” Martinez III, aspiring Board Member Jose Brainard Mayol, and reelected Rep. Janice Salimbangon.

Martinez was one of Salimbangon’s challengers while Mayol lost the bid to get a seat before the province’s legislative body to reelectionists Kerrie Shimura and Horacio Franco.

In Cebu’s 6th District, neophyte politician Daphne Lagon, who clinched the congressional seat, and reelected Board Member Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano have already submitted their SOCEs last June 1.

Deadline for the submission of SOCEs will be this Wednesday, June 8.

Winning candidates who fail to disclose their SOCEs on time may be barred from taking office. / dcb
