A 78-tear-old folk healer was stabbed to death while trying to help his assailant’s son in his home in sitio Lumboy, barangay Anislag, Pinamungajan town in southwest Cebu last Monday evening.

Eugenio Lorion was giving medicines to the son of 52-year-old Pantaleon Baragados whose 40-year-old live-in partner Emelina Araña asked for the folk healer’s help prior to being attacked.

Baragados arrived at home drunk when he got irked on seeing Lorion help his son who had fever.

“Noy ngano dia man ka sa balay? Wa kay labot kay di ka mananambal (why are you here? You are not even a doctor),” the suspect reportedly told Lorion.

A heated argument ensued and Baragados got hold of a bladed weapon and stabbed Lorion on his left chest.

He was rushed to the Pinamungajan District Hospital but failed to make it.

Baragados surrendered to a former barangay councilman and was detained at the Pinangmungajan police precinct two hours after the incident.
