Kadaugan Centurions Eagles Club makes ‘Liga ng mga Kuya’ semis
CEBU CITY, Philippines—Kadaugan Centurions Eagles Club edged Cebu Elites Marksman Eagles Club, 67-55, to advance to the semifinals of the ongoing DEO ET Patria-Ballers Club “Liga ng mga Kuya” Season 1 last Monday, August 22, 2022, at the Pajo basketball gym in Lapu-Lapu City.
Rocky Garcia led the Kadaugan Centurions with 16 points.
Also part of the Kadaugan Centurions is Ricky Verdida. It can be recalled that Verdida formed the KCS Computer Specialists-Mandaue City that won the Visayas leg title of the inaugural Pilipinas VisMin Super Cup last year.
In the other quarterfinals match, the Dagami Legends beat the Golden Mactan Eagles Club, 61-44.
Roderick Aralar led the Dagami Legends with nine points with five rebounds.
The other quarterfinals matches are scheduled on Thursday, August 25, at the Cebu City Sports Institute in Barangay Sawang Calero, Cebu City.
Agape Zubu takes on the Grand Manktan at 6:45 p.m. while the Cebu North Mandabue Eagles Club faces United Continent Eagles Club at 8 p.m.
A total of 14 teams competed in the basketball tournament organized by the members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles Central Visayas region.
The players in each team are comprised of “kuyas,” or members of this international fraternal organization.
The tournament fosters unity, brotherhood, and wellness among the members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles-Philippine Eagles Central Visayas region.
Verdida, who happens to be one of the organizers of this league, said that they are planning for a bigger tournament that will cover the entire Visayas region.
The winning team of that tournament will represent Visayas in the national finals or the Philippine Eagles Basketball League (PEBL).
