CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Central Visayas Football Association (CVFA) Under-19 team opened its campaign in the Philippine Football Federation (PFF) U-19 VisMin National Group Stage tilt with a bang.

This after CVFA crushed the Golden Davao Regional Football Association (GODARFA), 11-2, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at the Joaquin F. Memorial Sports Complex in Zamboanga City.

With the victory, CVFA now leads the goal quotient in the group standings followed by Camiguin-Misamis Oriental Regional Football Association (CMORFA) in second place after the latter beat the Zamboanga-Sultan Kudarat Football Association (ZAMBASULTA), 4-0, in an earlier match.

CVFA’s Winger Stephen Soria scored four goals to lead the victory for CVFA. He was later named the “Man of the Match” for his stellar performance.

Before winning the match, GODARFA shocked CVFA with two straight goals in the opening minutes. But that was all for Davao region.

CVFA retaliated with all their might, scoring four goals in the first half to take the lead, 4-2.

Things got worse in the second half as CVFA’s U-19 squad continued pounding on Davao region’s defense to peg the final score.

The team will next face ZAMBASULTA FA on Thursday, August 25, 2022.
