MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and isolated rain showers are expected nationwide on Thursday, August 25, 2022, after Severe Tropical Storm Florita (international name: Ma-on) exited the Philippine area of responsibility, according to the state weather bureau.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that the southwest monsoon or “habagat” is weakening but will still impact the western sections of Northern and Central Luzon.

(Severe tropical Storm Florita continues to move farther away from our land and it was last sighted 905 kilometers west of extreme northern Luzon, and is now heading towards southern China. Meanwhile the habagat or southwest monsoon will only affect the western sections of northern and central Luzon as it continues to weaken).

While all storm signals have been lifted, Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides in rain-affected areas.

Pagasa did not raise gale warnings, but the western section of Luzon may experience moderate to rough coastal waters with waves up to 1.2 to 3.1 meters high. Operators and crewmen of small vessels are advised to take caution.
