Village heads needed in drug war

Barangay officials should take their duties to heart especially in the campaign against illegal drugs, a Capitol official said  yesterday.

Joey Herrera, executive director of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (CPADAC) said:  “That’s what we need to find out—why he refused. If we find out that he really refused because he was busy playing mah-jong, then that’s unacceptable. We need these officials in our campaign against drugs.”

“Barangay officials  are needed as witnesses to strengthen the case against the perpetrators,” said Herrera.

Will barangay  captain Raul Cabanero be investigated by peers in the Talisay CIty Council? Talisay City Vice Mayor Romeo Villarante said it’s up to the council.  He said they will give him  “moral support”  but that this does not mean he is free of any administrative liability.
