A hand grenade was lobbed at the garage of a retired Bureau of Customs collector yesterday morning.

Luckily, it did not explode.

The grenade was discovered by the caretaker of the house of Paul Alcazaren in Main Court Subd., barangay Bulacao, Talisay City.

It was in between the parked vehicles of the retired official who is in Hongkong for a vacation.

Left in the house were Alcazaren’s mother-in-law and grandchildren.

Insp. Windell Abellana, deputy chief of Talisay City Police, said the house has a CCTV and they hope to identify the one responsible through the footage.

SPO1 Reynaldo Solante, a bomb expert, said that the hand grenade might have malfunctioned but could explode anytime. Its safety pin was recovered outside the gate.
