A 66-year-old man was suspected to have committed suicide after allegedly beating up his wife in barangay Lawaan, Alcantara town, southwest Cebu.
Claudio Toquero was found hanging by his neck inside their house at around 10 p.m. Friday.
Before that, he allegedly struck the head of his 70-year-old wife, Patricia, with a stone and a bolo after having a heated argument, said PO1 Gleen Buena of the Alcantara Municipal Police Office.
Police said the domestic abuse was motivated by jealousy.
Neighbors took the woman to the hospital before seeking the help of the police.
When the police went to the couple’s house to supposedly arrest the man, they instead found his lifeless body suspended from a beam.
