A 49-year-old businessman was  arrested for bringing a minor to a motel in barangay Banilad, Mandaue City.

Jermin Maribao, a resident of barangay Tayud, Lilo-an town, was charged with violation of Republic Act 7610 of the Anti-Child Abuse Law.

Police filed the complaint after an examination at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center revealed that the girl was sexually abused.

Senior Insp. Philip Silva, chief of the Casuntingan Police Station, said it was the 14-year-old girl’s parents who asked the police to rescue the girl.

Silva said the parents learned that the girl was with the suspect when she allegedly told her cousin that she will meet her boyfriend whom she described as “old.”

Police said Maribao was unaware that the girl’s parents tailed them while they were on their way to Jade Court Motel past 3 p.m. Monday.

Maribao drove a sedan.

The parents alerted the police when they reached the motel.

Police coordinated with the motel management before arresting Maribao.

Questioned by police, the girl and the suspect admitted that it was their second meeting.

The girl told the police that the man gave her P650 after the meetings.
