A local hotel chain will invest about P300 million for three expansion projects in the next five years.
Cebu Parklane International Hotel holding company, Five Power Ventures Development Corp. (FPVDC), is set to expand their hotel business with a beach resort, a mountain resort and a condotel in Cebu.
They will be developing a mountain resort in barangay Babag, Busay, said FPVDC member of the board of director Alan Ting in an interview yesterday.
It will be located within the family’s six hectare property which is currently used as an organic farm producing fresh vegetables that are supplied to Cebu Parklane International Hotel.
Part of the property falls under the protected area by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
Cebu Parklane International Hotel general manager Cenelyn Manguilimotan said that DENR officials will visit the property and will do a zoning to define which area is protected.
“The area that’s protected will be the area that we’ll plant more organic vegetables and flowers,” she said.
The mountain resort will have 50 villas and will still carry the Cebuano feel which is consistent with their branding.
Another project is an 8-story condotel property in Cebu City which will have 80 rooms for long-staying guests.
“The first two floors will be for commercial establishments and the rest of the six floors will be for the rooms. This is because we saw the need for a place where executives of big companies now setting up office in Cebu can stay for a longer period of time,” she said.
The building will be built on a 1,300 square meter lot.
A beach resort is also set to be developed in a 1.4 hectare property in Cordova which according to Ting will possibly be a boutique resort.
Manguilimotan said the family felt that Cebu’s tourism industry remains at the forefront and will still need more product concepts that will attract more tourists to visit.
“They are investing a lot in the industry because they believe in Cebu’s tourism potential,” she said.
Aside from the new projects, the existing hotel is also undergoing a lot of upgrades including change of door locks and a facelift of Manuel’s restaurant.
Manguilimotan said they are investing P1.5 million for the upgrade of Manuel’s restaurant to comply with the requirements of their HACCP or (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) certification.
