The Department of Education-7 (DepEd-7) reminded teachers not to require their students to spend for their class Christmas parties in order not to burden the parents.

“It should be simple and meaningful, if they can have thisChristmas party with their classmates, teachers and parents sharing their baon (packed meals), then it would be good,” Regional DepEd-7 Director Carmelita Dulangon said.

“If there are parents who can afford to spend for sandwiches, it’s okay. They shouldn’t spend so much for the Christmas party, as long as they can eat right,” she added.

Classes for public elementary and high school students will end this Friday for their Christmas vacation.
