The barangay captain of Tubod-Dugoan in Dumanjug town, southern Cebu was gunned down at 10 a.m yesterday.

Cipriano Torquedo, 52, sustained four gunshot wounds in his back.

The suspect who was identified as Danilo Avila of barangay Bulak  fled and is now the subject of a police manhunt.

The attack was witnessed by the victim’s common law sife Victoria Cervante, said PO1 Silvestre Zulueta of the Dumanjug police.

The victim and his wife were walking outside the municipal market when Cervante entered to  look for a comfort room. Torquedo waited outside.

When the woman emerged after a few minutes, she saw Avila shoot her partner in the back. Police found  empty shells of a  .45 caliber pistol and three slugs at the scene.

Police said the attack could be related to the killing of Torquedo’s nephew last year.  Avila was named a suspect and was charged with the murder.
