CEBU CITY, Philippines—Metro Cebu and the rest of Cebu Province will have cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

Based on the 24-hour weather forecast of the state weather bureau, Pagasa, this condition is expected to last until 5pm on Friday, May 5, 2023.

The temperature today will also range between 25 to 29 degrees Celsius, while coastal water conditions will be at a slight to moderate level, with wave height at 0.8 to 1.3 meters.

On Saturday, May 5, Cebu will have slightly improved weather with partly cloudy to, at times cloudy skies with rain showers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, Pagasa stationed in Mactan also recorded a total of 47.3 millimeters (mm) of rainfall yesterday, May 3, as light to moderate rains affected different parts of Cebu.

A 47.3 mm of rainfall is equivalent to 236,500 drums or barrels of rain per square kilometer.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA), located at 130 kilometers Southeast of Cuyo, Palawan, as of 3 a.m. on Thursday, remains to be the prevailing weather system affecting the Visayas.

The LPA is embedded along the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

Pagasa said among the watercourses that are still likely to be affected by moderate to occasionally heavy rains within the next 12 hours include Cebu tributaries, particularly Cotcot, Mananga, Guinabasan, Balamban, and Sabangdaku.

Jhomer Eclarino, Pagasa Mactan weather specialist said the LPA may develop into a tropical depression within the next 48 hours.
