THE RAIN or Shine Elasto Painters picked up their third straight victory with an easy 103-91 win over the Barako Bull Energy Colas yesterday in the 40th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
The Elasto Painters tied the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters at second spot in the teams standings with their fifth win in seven games.
Wayne Chism exploded for 32 points, 20 of them came in the first half where the Elasto Painters broke the game wide open.
With Chism leading the way, Rain or Shine detonated a 19-4 bomb, turning a three-point lead into a fat 49-31 lead.
Rain or Shine led by as many as 20 points in the third but Barako Bull rallied within 69-77 early in the fourth.
Jeff Chan and TY Tang then presided over a game-sealing run as the duo teamed up in a 16-6 tear as Rain or Shine coasted the rest of the way.
Rain or Shine’s top point guard Paul Lee marked his return from a one-game absence due to injury with 16 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals. JR Quiñahan added 12 points, while Chan had 11.
Towering import Solomon Alabi finished with 23 points and 13 rebounds for the Energy Colas, who absorbed their third loss in the last four games after staring the tournament with three straight wins.
