CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Cebu Football Club (CFC) Gentle Giants landed in Group F of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Cup Group Stage, which kicks off on September 21, 2023, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

This was officially announced on Thursday, August 24, during the official draw of teams for the group stage competition at the AFC House in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Gentle Giants will compete against a mixture of seasoned and rookie teams in Group F.

They are grouped with the reigning 2022 Cambodian Premier League champions, the Phnom Penh Crown FC, and the 2022 Myanmar National League champions, Shan United.

Also, newcomer Macarthur FC South Western Sydney, New South Wales, which competes in the A-League, landed in Group F.

The Gentle Giants earned their slot in the AFC Cup Group Stage after placing second overall in the Philippines Football League (PFL) in its second season of joining the tournament.

They placed behind overall champions Kaya FC Iloilo, which was also drawn for Group G in the AFC Champions League group stage.

The Gentle Giants, currently competing in the PFL’s Copa Paulino Alcantara, will face Phnom Penh Crown FC on September 21 at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

Their second match is at the same venue on October 26.

Phnom Penh Crown FC will host CFC on November 30 at the RSN Stadium in the Cambodian capital.

Their last group stage match is against Macarthur FC at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on December 14.
