Suarez makes weight, set to fight Dominican Republic’s Vasquez in Oklahoma
CEBU CITY, Philippines — It’s judgment day for Olympian Charly “King’s Warrior” Suarez as he steps into the mainstream boxing spotlight by facing Dominican Republic’s Yohan Vasquez in the Top Rank-backed fight card at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Saturday, August 25, 2023 (Aug. 26 Manila Time).
Suarez and Vasquez faced each other for the first time during the weigh-in on Friday (Saturday Manila Time) at the official venue of the fight card.

Suarez, 4 regional titles
The 34-year-old Suarez, the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) Inter-Continental, International Boxing Organization (IBO) Inter-Continental, and World Boxing Council (WBC) Asia super featherweight champion weighed in at 130.6 pounds.
Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Vasquez tipped the scales in 129.6 lbs.

First time fighting in US
This will be Suarez’s first time fighting in the United States and his first fight since March this year.
It can be recalled that Suarez wrested the four regional titles via a 12th round technical knockout against Aussie Paul Fleming in Sydney, Australia last March.
That victory catapulted Suarez’s budding boxing career into the world rankings. Suarez is currently ranked No. 7 in the IBF, No. 10 in the WBO and No. 15 in the WBC’s super featherweight division.
He has an unblemished record of 15 wins with 9 knockouts.

Vasquez’s fight record
Meanwhile, Vasquez has a more experienced record of 25 wins with 20 knockouts, and 3 losses.
Vasquez and Suarez will battle in a 10-rounder non-title bout.
A total of nine bouts are lined up for tomorrow’s fight card which will be headed by the heavyweight showdown between Jared Anderson against Andrii Rudenko.
