‘Shabu’ worth P1.3 billion found in abandoned car in Pampanga
MANILA, Philippines — Authorities recovered P1.3 billion worth of suspected crystal meth, locally known as “shabu,” inside a car abandoned at a mall parking lot in Pampanga on Saturday, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.
According to the PNP, an operation of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Manila Task Force Against Illegal Drugs and Mabalacat City Police Station operatives led to the discovery of narcotics at a shopping center along Barangay Camachiles, Mabalacat City around 2:30 a.m.
Based on the report, police discovered approximately 200 kilograms of shabu abandoned inside a red Avanza bearing a license plate ZGS643.
PNP said it had already sought the Land Transportation Office’s assistance to determine the car owner’s identity and the vehicle’s registration details.
It added that the recovered narcotics were inventoried and processed in the presence of a barangay official and a media representative.
The inventoried drugs are now under NBI’s custody, police said.
