Dancesport Team Cebu City bags 7 gold medals in Malaysia tilt

CEBU CITY, Philippines—The Dancesport Team Cebu City (DTCC) put up a show in the international stage after clinching seven gold medals in the 2nd Malaysia World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) Open Dancesport Championship 2023 over the weekend at the Ideal Convention Centre Shah Alam in Selangor, Malaysia. 

DTCC, which recently won 21 gold medals to emerge as overall champions in the Higala-ay Dancesport National Open Competition in Cagayan De Oro City, showcased their grace and perfect dance execution in the international scene to bag seven gilts. 

Anselmo Estillore Jr. paired with Mary Joy Dumosmog and DTCC founder Eleanor Hayco to win six of the seven gold medals. 

Shardie and Marjorie Abellana chipped in one gold medal and one bronze. 

Estillore Jr. paired with Dumosmog to top the single dance samba, single dance paso doble, and single dance jive. They also reached the semifinals of the WDSF Open Latin category.

He and Hayco then ruled the single dance chacha, single dance rumba, and single dance jive. They also earned a silver medal in the Grade B Latin category. 

Shardie and Marjorie Abellana topped the Grade D Latin and earned the bronze medal in the single dance rumba. They also placed fifth in the single dance chacha and Grade B Latin category. 

DTCC’s other bronze medalist were John Lloyd Leyson and Ouie Selene Rendon in the Grade B Latin and reached the quarterfinals of the WDSF Open Latin category.
