CEBU CITY, Philippines — Metro Cebu will experience a “generally fair weather” for this week, according to an official of Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration Mactan (Pagasa-Mactan).

Engineer Al Quiblat, chief of Pagasa-Mactan, told CDN Digital on Sunday, September 3, that Metro Cebu was not affected by the recent typhoon.

“Naa lay habagat, kusog-kusog lang gamay atoang hangin 30 to 50 kilometers per hour karong adlawa (Sunday),” said Quiblat.

(There is just habagat, our winds today is quite strong 30 to 50 kilometers per hour.)

Moreover, the public can also experience partly cloudy to cloudy sky conditions with isolated rains due to thunderstorms.

Sea condition

Meanwhile, for the sea condition it is moderate to rough today until tomorrow, Monday, September 4.

Quiblat said that even if they did not issue a gale warning, small sea vessels would have to be careful.

“Kay naay posible nga mga pagbalod nga 3.3 meters ang gitas-on, so delikado labi nanang mga de-motor kanang mga sakayan sa mga mangingisda,” he said.

(Because there is a possibility of waves with a height of 3.3 meters, so it is still risky for motor-driven vessels, those vessels used by fishermen.)

Effects of habagat caused by Hanna

Besides that, Quiblat said that Cebu would not be affected by the habagat effect of Typhoon Hanna, (this would) only (be) in Western Visayas.

The temperature until Thursday will range from 26 to 33 degrees celsius.

“Atong bantayan lang kanang mga thunderstorm, mga pag-ulan, passing rain anytime of the day nga e-issue sa Pagasa kanang thunderstorm advisories nato,” Quiblat added.

(We will just have to watch out for the thunderstorms, those rains, passing rains anytime of the day that Pagasa will issue what we call our thunderstorm advisories.)
