Webmasters win by 74 points vs Wildcats in Cesafi college hoop wars
CEBU CITY, Philippines—The University of Cebu (UC) Webmasters started their Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Cesafi) college basketball campaign with a lopsided 109-35 thrashing of the Cebu Institute Technology-University (CIT-U) Wildcats on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Cebu Coliseum.
The Webmasters, who finished as runners-up in Cesafi last season, were relentless from all fronts in their one-sided win over the Wildcats.

It can be recalled that UC started their campaign last year with a three-game losing streak in Cesafi, but this time, the Kern Sesante-led Webmasters made sure to have a rousing start to their season.
Jasper Pacaña celebrated his birthday with a 16-point outing including nine points from the three-point area for UC. Forward Luther Leonard and guard Maverick Eligoyo also logged 16 points apiece for UC.
Bigman Michael Diaz had 13 and Ray Charles Libatog added 10 markers for UC.
Ivan Dave Ares was the lone double-digit scorer for CIT-U with 11 points in their dismal outing, while Edgar Sasol added eight points.
UC put the pedal to the metal early in the game by leading as much as 30 points, 50-20, heading into halftime.
In the second half, UC unloaded a blistering 25-2 run from Eligoyo, Pacaña, and Diaz’s offensive efforts to balloon their lead to 45 points, 70-25, while capitalizing on CIT-U’s excessive turnovers.
UC went on sealing the third period with a commanding 57-point cushion, 82-25.
CIT-U’s Edwin Jao momentarily stopped the bleeding after sinking a triple in the start of the final period.
However, UC retaliated with a 27-6 run with Pacaña scoring eight of them to hammer the last nail into CIT-U’s coffin. / dcb
