Lapu-Lapu road rage: LTO-7 to issue show cause orders against drivers involved
CEBU CITY, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office in Central Visayas (LTO-7) is looking into a road rage incident in Lapu-Lapu City involving two motorists that went viral online.
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, LTO-7 will issue show cause orders (SCO) against the motorists involved in the Lapu-Lapu road rage incident that happened in Barangay Marigondon, Lapu-Lapu City.

LTO-7 Regional Director Glen Galario said that the said video has reached the office of the LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II.

Consequently, Mendoza ordered to issue the SCOs on Wednesday.
“We have already coordinated with the Philippine National Police and Lapu-Lapu City Traffic Management Office with the details of both motorists in the video. We have initially been informed that one is a taxi driver and the other one is a habal-habal driver,” Galario said.
Penalized for road rage
In the SCO, Galario ordered the involved drivers to give explanation on why they should not be penalized under Section 48, Article 5 of the Republic Act 4136 or the Land Transportation and Traffic Code.
“Based on reports, both caused heavy traffic in the area and they will be directed to submit a notarized affidavit why they should not be penalized concerning the incident,” Galario added.
Galario said the fist fight between the two drivers was alarming, hence the incident must be dealt with immediately since it involves matters pertaining to road safety.
According to the witnesses, the road rage incident affected the traffic in the area.
Moreover, the press release stated that there have been a number drivers penalized for road rage incidents in the past weeks.
