Barangay and SK Elections: Central Visayas now 90% ready
CEBU CITY, Philippines – Only 12 days left before voting precincts all over the nation will open for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections (BSKE).
And here in Central Visayas, preparations continue to ensure peaceful and orderly elections.
The Commission on Elections here (Comelec-7) and the Police Regional Office (PRO-7) conducted on Wednesday, October 18 another conference in line with the upcoming barangay and youth polls.
Among the new policies and plans they agreed on was to deploy additional law enforcers.
Comelec – 7 director, lawyer Lionel Marco Castillano, said there will be augmentation forces to be deployed in Central Visayas for the BSKE this October 30.
In the meantime, ballot boxes and several election paraphernalia for Cebu and Bohol have already arrived, and have been deposited already in treasurers’ offices.
Those for Siquijor and Negros Oriental have yet to reach their respective areas due to congestion in ports in Metro Manila, said Castillano.
“Maybe around two or three days which is kaya gihapon nato,” he added.
Overall, Central Visayas is 90 percent ready for the BSKE, Castillano said.
“Gamay nalang kuwang sa atong preparations, and then we are ready for the elections,” he said.
