The country’s only professional off-road triathlete Joseph Miller of Cebu placed sixth in the 2015 Xterra Guam Championships yesterday.
The 34-year-old Miller finished the 1.5-kilometer open water swim, 35K bike and the 8.2K trail run with a total time of two hours and 55 minutes for sixth place in the men’s pro open.
Two-time Xterra Philippines champion Ben Allen of Australia topped the race with a time of 2:26.28. He also topped the Saipan Xterra Championships last March 28. Bradley Weiss of South Africa finished second with a time of 2:36.42 while Japanese Takahiro Ogasawara clocked 2:40.17 for third place.
Miller, who comes from Lapu-Lapu City, remained third in the XTerra Asian Tour Pro standings with 66 points.
He also placed sixth in the XTerra Saipan Championships, finishing with a time of 3 hours, 2 minutes and 33 seconds.
Ahead of Miller in the standings is Allen, who has 182 points and Weiss, who is at first with 190 points.
After Guam, Miller will compete in two more Xterra legs. These are the Xterra Asian Tour—the Xterra Asia Pacific Championships on April 18 to 19 in Australia and the Xterra Malaysia on May 2.
Before he turned pro last year, Miller was a two-time Xterra Philippines Filipino Elite champion.
