Dead man drifts in Mactan Channel

The body of a man in his 40s was found floating in the Mactan Channel by fishermen yesterday.

The man was wearing a black t-shirt, denim shorts, and had a fair complexion, clean cut hair, a large build and an estimated height of 5’6″.

Police found a PhilHealth ID in his pocket but the ID which had the name Alfon Tajanlangit Tapic had no photo.

PO2 Louisito Ernie, investigator of the Homicide Section of Lapu-Lapu City Police Office said he is waiting for the autopsy results to reveal the cause of death.

A 37-year-old taxi driver was brought to hospital after he was stabbed several times by an angry passenger yesterday dawn in Logarta Street, barangay Subangdako, Mandaue City.

Efren Ulila, a resident of Arayat Street in Subangdako was able to report to police station 2 despite injuries resulting from stab wounds inflicted by an unidentified passenger at around 4:30 a.m.

Police investigation revealed that the assailant took the cab in Mabolo and asked to be brought to Mandaue. Upon reaching Logarta Street, without provocation he attacked Ulila then ran away.

Ulila is now confined in the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center.

TWO houses caught fire last Monday evening in sitio Bayabas, barangay Basak, Cebu City.

Damage on the houses of Girado Epifanio and Eugenio Alegre was estimated at P200,000.00

Investigators said the fire started in Epifanio’s house but they have yet to determine the cause.

The fire was recorded at 8:48 p.m. and placed under control after a few minutes by the Parian Fire Station./USJ-R Intern Mary Love Molody Cabanag
