An aerial platform fire truck that can reach high-rise buildings was received  yesterday by the Cebu Filipino-Chinese Volunteer Fire Brigade Inc.

Its basket ladder  can reach the 10th floor of a  structure  and the truck  can carry 500 liters of water, said Wilton Uy Kingtian, fire brigade marshall.

“The challenge on our part is dealing with low lying wires in some areas and  congested areas in Cebu City,” he said.

The $20,000 fire truck made in Canada was donated by the Rotary Club of Cebu West and will be used in Metro Cebu.

The equipment was acquired  with the help of Firefighters Without Borders Canada, said Toto Cupin, past district governor of Rotary Club of Cebu West.

It was the fourth aerial  fire truck donated by the  club to the fire brigade.

Seven  volunteer firefighters yesterday  demonstrated a rescue operation using the new truck in front of the Chinese Fire Brigade Station.
