Cebuano mixed martial arts patron and Yaw-Yan ArDigma Cebu CEO and founder Master Benigno “Ekin” R. Caniga Jr. has been formally enshrined into the Philippine Martial Arts Hall-of-Fame Tuesday night at the Crown Legacy Hotel in Baguio City.

Aside from Caniga, another Cebuano martial arts pillar who was included in the third batch of Hall-of-Famer inductees was Supreme Grandmaster Cacoy Cañete of arnis.  Receiving the award on  behalf of Canete was his grandson Chuck Canete.

Caniga was acknowledged and honored for his contribution to the growth of Yaw-Yan, a native Filipino martial arts.

“This is a dream come true and I am grateful for this prestigious award and I dedicate this to my entire Yaw-Yan ArDigma family not only in Cebu, but also those in USA, UK and France,” Caniga said.

Caniga is currently working with the Cebu City Sports Commission’s “Bakbakan sa Sugbu” grassroots program.
