Batch 1999 stays perfect in Cecaba

DEFENDING champion Batch 1999-BMC Hospital Systems/Hainanese Delights padded their amazing winning streak to 28 after it nipped Batch 1998-Kaking, 104-97, last Saturday in the Cebu Eastern College Alumni Basketball Association (Cecaba) 14th Dr. Chen Lieh Fu Memorial Cup at the CEC Gym.
Firming up its hold of the number one spot with a perfect 9-0 (win-loss) record, Batch 1999 once again drew a solid game from Mark Bukiron, who came away with a game-high 41 points, five assists, three steals and three rebounds.
Albert Uy contributed 23 points, five assists, four rebounds and two steals, while Earn Saguindel piled up 15 points, nine assists, three steals and three rebounds as Batch 1999 kept alive its bid of duplicating its magnificent run last season where it won all of its 19 games.
Ruben Yap Jr. was the Batch 1999 player to score in twin digits with 12 and also added five boards, four assists, three steals and a block.
Rex Millan paced Batch 1998 with 34 points and also had three rebounds, two assists and two steals. Elvis Evangelista piled up 21 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals, Robinson Yap scored 17 points and Manuel Ferdinan Lim Jr. tallied 10 points in Batch 1998’s sixth loss in nine games.
Meanwhile, Batch 1980s/‘90s/2011-Koi Herbal scored a default win over Batch 2006-1st ACY Shipping Corp./Cebu Regal Pension House to easily snatch its sixth victory against three losses.
Batch 2006 slumped to 1-10 (win-loss).
