THE Philippine Statistics Authority in the Central Visayas (PSA-7) is set to conduct a mid-decade census on Aug. 1.
During the 888 News Forum at Marco Polo Plaza in Lahug, Cebu City, PSA-7 information officer Noel Rafols said that the mid-decade census happens every ten years to update the population.
Rafols said the survey will be conducted house-to-house in the entire region and the rest of the Philippines.
“Local enumerators will be hired for the purpose. They should be more familiar with the areas they are going to visit,” Rafols said.
Hired personnel will give questionnaires to update personal information, demographic and housing characteristics as well as interview the house occupants.
The PSA-7 is urging the public to participate in the survey. Families who fabricate data will be fined P100,000 each, according to the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013.
PSA-7 Director Ariel Florendo said foreigners will also be included in the census.
“If they stayed here for at least a year or planning to stay at least one year (they are included). That’s why we will coordinate with the embassies,” said Florendo.
Before conducting the mid-decade census, the PSA-7 will schedule courtesy calls on barangays for ocular inspections.
They have also divided barangays into enumeration areas in which every area is composed of 300 to 500 households.
