THE San Remigio Chess Club in partnership with the municipality of San Remigio will host a two-day chess tournament starting today dubbed the 2nd Mayor Mariano Martinez Cup at the Mayor Masbate Sports Complex in San Remigio town, north Cebu.
The seven-round Swiss system tournament will have four categories – Open, Fourth district, under-18 and under-13.
The Open division champion will receive P6,000 with trophy while the second and third placers will get P4,000 and P2,000, respectively. Fourth to 10th placers will also receive cash.
The Fourth district category winner will pocket P3,000 while runners-up will get P2,000 and P1,000.
Winners in the under-18 and under-13 divisions will bring home P2,000 and P1,000, respectively, with the rest of the top 10 also getting cash.
Registration fee for the Open division is P200 while wood pushers who are fourth district residents will pay P50 for 13-under and P100 for the under-18 divisions.
