Radaza vs. Radaza in 2016?

By: Norman V. Mendoza May 12,2015 - 08:45 AM

Will former Lapu-Lapu mayor and former congressman Arturo Radaza run for the post of Lapu-Lapu City mayor in 2016 against his wife, incumbent Mayor Paz Radaza?

Two barangay captains asked Radaza about his plans for 2016 elections during an Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) meeting in the last week of April, Radaza said he was considering about running for mayor in next year’s polls.

He also told the barangay captains that he already talked about it with his wife, Mayor Paz.

Basak barangay captain Isabelito Darnayla and Maribago barangay captain Joseph Pangatungan said Radaza asked the barangay officials if they will have their support if he runs in the elections.

However, since they were not sure if the former congressman was telling them the truth about consulting Mayor Paz,  Darnayla and  Pangatungan,  suggested to ABC president Jose Dungog to pass a resolution expressing their support to Mayor Paz Radaza instead and to give her the opportunity to fully serve the city.

Darnayla said 18 barangay captains have already signed the resolution of support for Paz.

Mayor Paz Radaza refused to comment on the issue yesterday, but she said she would talk about it in due time.

The ABC passed the resolution recognizing Mayor Paz for her exemplary performance and expressed their support for her programs.

Former mayor Arturo Radaza could not be reached for comment since he left recently for the US.
